Artist Statement

There is great beauty in the steel and concrete that holds the statues we praise in place. It is profound, though often questioned, since Yankee Patriotismonly avails itself. I dust my self off and smirk at a hard days work or create a piece of art hoping to encapsulate one of these fleeting moment that is Chicago specifically. I find much interest and curiosity in the juxtapositions that exist within United States (as opposed to the often hubris-filled "American") culture and how they express themselves silently in our everyday activities. Racism still exist with such incredible fervor, but the form has been so sewn into our culture many can not explain it, let alone point it out without feeling guilty of following its lit path towards a melancholy conformity. All things considered, I am a descendant of African Slaves and Native American victims whom would probably not understand my acknowledgment or respect for their struggle. I am Black man from the South Side of Chicago whom often finds himself within the beer soaked haunts of art-kids and outcast seeking Mid-Western weirdness to inhabit their lives and create, or perhaps validate, some sense malleable worth. I am wordy but willing to fight for every syllable uttered if knuckles need be bruised to prove its worth. I've been in battles and performed with famous people that I will never care about as much as the joy of seeing a friend of mine nail a line for the first time. Most rappers would agree with that but they are just too cowardly to say it. Welcome to my drunken stare into the sublime.
